President's Letter: May 2023

Dear friends and colleagues,

The last month has been a super busy month, and we aren’t quite in summer yet, though the weather says otherwise! I want to take this opportunity to thank our board, gala committee, and our staff at AIA for their hard-working efforts to pull off a Playground Tour, the AIA Lecture Series, the opening of the Frederick Law Olmsted exhibition at the Center for Architecture and Design and of course the stunning night at the Gala! – All within the last month! It couldn’t have happened without all these folks, especially Kevin Gaughan, Patrick Whealton, Om Khurjekar, Lauren Bostic Hill, Katherine Somerville and Meghan Hudson!

Speaking of volunteers, to make our chapter work, it is based on the backbone of our volunteers. From our committees to the event planning and our executive board, it is mainly powered by your peers. Many of us have been on the board for many years and we are looking for some fresh faces to take the reins. We have a leadership form that I highly encourage you to fill out or share with a friend or coworker. Even if you don’t have the time to commit to a term on the board, let us know how you’d like to help or if you would like to help in the future. We are looking to strengthen the chapter’s depth chart and I know we have many talented and hardworking folks out there! Reach out to me if you have any questions about any position or committee, I will gladly answer you.

Enjoy the summer and remember, if you need any last-minute credits, sign up for our Regional Conference + Tours!!!

Best,

Joe Ignatius PLA, ASLA, LEED Green Associate MDASLA, President 2021-2023
