Committees

Committees are a great way to build your network by working side-by-side with like minded industry professionals.

See below for various ways to get involved. 

  • ​ADVOCACY COMMITTEE
    • Host a site tour with an elected official

    • Track and inform the chapter on legislative issues throughout the year

    • Plan and participate in Advocacy Day 2021

  • SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE

    • Develop 2021 Sponsorship package

    • Seek out new sponsors

    • Maintain relationships with current sponsors with support from the management team

 

  • AWARDS COMMITTEE

    • Made up of Subcommittees: Awards Categories, Other Chapter Juries, Gala, National Awards

  • FELLOWS COMMITTEE

    • Facilitate the preparation of successful submissions by qualified Fellow candidates.

    • Identify programs & procedures whereby the chapter can cultivate future candidates.

    • Coordinate events to celebrate Fellows-elect.

    • Encourage current Fellows to stay involved with the chapter (programs, juries, etc.).

  • MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

    • Increase membership 

    • Organize membership data in an easily accessible and updatable database to share with other committees.

  • PUBLIC AWARENESS COMMITTEE

    • Sub Committee - Embark Publication​

    • Formation of new goals

  • PUBLIC PRACTICE COMMITTEE

    • ​To share ideas of the public realm, understand the public sector's importance to landscape architecture, and its connectivity to the students and the community.

  • SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

    • Schedule 2020 scholarship application

    • Update applications to reflect new dates and to allow for the collection of information necessary for the Treasurer

    • Create clear expectations for winners (Fellowship in particular; i.e. when/where do they present their project)

  • STUDENT OUTREACH COMMITTEE

    • New! Manage Job Shadow Week

    • More Goals TBD​

  • EMERGING PROFESSIONALS

    • Run a profitable or revenue-neutral LARE review event in the fall.

    • Develop strategies for encouraging emerging professional membership and involvement in the chapter.

    • Organize at least one emerging professional's events this year.

  • HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE

    • Add historic preservation information to the website

    • Submit a project(s) for the HALS Challenge

  • ANNUAL CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

  • STORMWATER TOUR COMMITTEE

We are currently seeking volunteers to be members of the following committees:

 

1) Awards Committee

Committee Members needed.

Help manage award applications and the Awards Jury.

 

2) Membership Committee

Committee Chair needed.

Maintain our membership database and seek ways to grow membership in tandem with ASLA National.

3) Emerging Professionals Committee

Committee Members needed.

Organize our yearly LARE review program and resources to assist newer professionals.

 

4) Annual Conference Committee

Committee Members needed.

Assist the committee with the annual conference program and speakers.

 

5) Stormwater Tour Committee

Committee Members needed.

Assist the committee with organizing our Fall Stormwater Tour.

 

6) Embark Committee

Use an existing template and work-flow to build our annual end-of-year print publication, Embark.
