Join colleagues from the Maryland, Potomac, and Virginia ASLA Chapters to discuss the impact of climate change and ways to address it.
About this event
Join us for a fascinating set of speakers and projects addressing climate change, regulatory response, and our actions and agency as landscape architects. This joint conference from the Virginia, Maryland, and Potomac ASLA chapters features two half-days of virtual exchanges from practitioners, academics, and policymakers who are grappling with the mounting impacts of a warming atmosphere. We'll survey a variety of climate issues facing our region: new policies impacting our work; the impact of landscape architecture on communities at risk; new tools for measuring the impact of landscape responses; and a look at inspiring projects leading the way towards an adaptive future.
Our virtual conference sessions include:
Climate Action Outlook: from Federal to Local
Tidewater Rising: Climate Policy and Response in Coastal Virginia
Mitigation and Measurement: Green Infrastructure Impact
Climate and Community: Equity in Response
Policy in Action: Public Sector Climate Change Response
Project Showcase: Design for Mitigation and Adaptation
Saturday's optional program offers three separate on-site tours of projects in Virginia and Maryland, showcasing innovative works combining the best of landscape architecture, planning, and engineering. You can select from a tour of the Alexandria waterfront, the Middle Branch project in Baltimore, or the Ohio Creek Watershed in Norfolk. Lunch will be included for attendees of on-site tours.
If you're interested in registering for a tour, be sure to select the ticket type that says "with Tour."
