A Message from the MDASLA President

Dear MDASLA members and friends,

Spring is finally in the air, the sun is out longer than 6 pm(!), time is about to leap forward ( your friendly reminder), and the teases that winter may finally give in to warmer weather. With those changes, we are all able to once again get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. I encourage you to get outside! Go on a hike along a state park trail, walk your dog through your favorite park, or begin playing sports on the field. Do any or all of these and remember a landscape architect played an integral role in creating these spaces we love and take for granted every day.

We are getting further along in the planning process for our regional conference with Potomac and Virginia Chapters and have compiled quite a lineup. We are working on finalizing a project showcase to boast great projects from around the region designed by DMV landscape architects. Be on the lookout for more information soon and sign up to get your much-needed LA CES(!) If you or your firm is interested and has a cool project to show, go on our website to register.

Finally, this month we have some exciting news that we are welcoming our new Executive Director, Lauren Bostic Hill. We have worked hard to find a great new Executive Director with AIA Baltimore and Baltimore Architecture Foundation. I know she will be a great leader and champion of our profession and help to build stronger relationships with our allied organizations at the Center for Architecture and Design. She will begin her new role later this month, come by and say hi!

Lots of exciting things to come!

Cheers,

Joe Ignatius, III, ASLA

MDASLA, President 2021-2023
