Parks as Community Infrastructure During and Beyond the Pandemic: Building Trust to Advance Equity

ALLIED PROGRAM Date: Thu, Sep 9, 2021 Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EDT 1.5 AICP CM

Parks and open space have become a vital element of community infrastructure – particularly during the pandemic as people have turned to parks and green spaces for physical and mental health benefits. Join the Maryland Department of Planning, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Community Revitalization and the Smart Growth Network at 1 pm, Thursday September 9, as panelists from the National Park and Recreation Association, Urban Land Institute, and community-based organizations explore the role that parks can play in COVID relief and recovery. The panelists will discuss what communities can do to improve access to parks; how community-based organizations can advocate successfully for parks and work with agencies to do so; and the opportunities cross-sector partnerships can provide to break down barriers through parks and transform communities. This will be the eighth offering of Planning With Purpose: A Smart Growth Network Webinar Series on Community Revitalization, hosted by the Maryland Department of Planning in coordination with the Smart Growth Network. Participants of the live webinar are eligible for 1.5 AICP CM credits. REGISTER HERE
